Zamenhof The Gallery presents two solo exhibitions in Milan artist Paolo Facchinetti (Nembro, 1953) and Andrea Boldrini (Naples, 1955), both edited by Virgil Patarini.
“Of light and shadow” is the title of the exhibition by Paolo Facchinetti, accompanied by a catalog Giorgio Mondadori Editorial and arranged in space in the room Burri and Fontana, in parallel, in adjacent rooms Rothko and Widow, you can admire the works of Andrea Boldrini, within the exhibition called “The reasons of sentiment.” The exhibitions and Facchinetti Boldrini confirm the vocation of the Gallery Zamenhof to champion artists who “recover the experience of the great avant-garde movements of the second half of the 900, especially in their declination Italian, citing, reworking, contaminating styles, techniques, theoretical approaches with technical expertise and intellectual sophistication. “
PAUL FACCHINETTI, Of light and shadow (from the introduction in the catalog of Virgil Patarini) always painting Facchinetti fluctuates dramatically between figuration and abstraction subtly refined energetic and informal gestures, including vague references to Giacometti and Francis Bacon or conscious references to Franz Kline, Emilio Vedova, Hans Hartung. Without ever confuse the two fronts. Without the two parallel universes that never meet. [...] The shade is a soft wrap. Light a scratch that hurts. But the contrast between the two appearances is incurable. Yes, there are two presences, Facchinetti as the shadow is not dark, but immanent presence, inevitable, looming. Perhaps, indeed, is the light to be no shadow, no, deny. [...] Now the extreme rigor of these works reveals patterns brutally, and yet also makes them more powerfully effective. And how can we call the unresolved conflict between light and shadow, between being and becoming, between pat and scratch between horizontality and verticality, except with the old name and forgot to “tragedy”? The exhibition of Paolo Facchinetti is accompanied by a catalog Giorgio Mondadori Editorial: An Anthology of the painter’s artistic career, illustrated with 98 photographic reproductions of his works, with texts by Virgil and Patarini Dalmazio Ambrosioni.
ANDREA BOLDRINI, The reasons of sentiment (text by Virgil Patarini) Those on display for this Milan are paintings that show “pictorial space” but also, at the same time, places of election, condensed with emotion at the sight of that open spectator to its fruition, his willingness to receive a color-saturated dense, dark, a color which sometimes unexpectedly opens the glare of white or light shades of tenderness, subtle, pastel colors. Spaces are full of expectations, congealed energy, held back, where you play the eternal game between instinct and reflection, between reason and emotion. There is the strength of the gesture that expresses itself through brushstrokes, obvious signs blacks that dig the canvas. But then there is an incessant search for equilibria in a game of checks and balances. It washes aimed to mitigate, soften or otherwise to dig deeper. And leaving drippings “space” to the case, even if only in part. They are landscapes?Maybe so. Sometimes these spaces seem to allude to, conjure up landscapes. Or it is a superficial similarity, only apparent, with landscapes of nature. Certainly are landscapes of the soul. Paolo Facchinetti was born in 1953 in Nembro, where he now lives and works. He began his artistic training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara in Bergamo attending drawing classes and naked under the guidance of Prof. Mino Marra. Even the master Cesare Benaglia had a strong importance in the growth of Paul, in fact attended his studio and art group Valbrembo 77 from 1985 to 1989. From the beginning his art is characterized by a strong dualism. The abstraction and color research-formal living with portraiture and the ability to capture the essence of the subject. The physical movement-sign of the moment in which the color is deposited on the canvas is always recognizable and often is a fundamental part of the work. Since 1972 Paolo Facchinetti exhibited his works in numerous solo, group and participates in national and international art exhibitions. He was invited to 13×17 traveling project, curated by Jean Philippe Daverio and Blanchaert, which was presented between 2006 and 2007 at the Church of Santa Cristina in Bologna, Rome Studio Mic, Berengo Studio in Murano (Venice), Teatro New Montevergini in Palermo, Museo Michetti, Francavilla al Mare (CH), Provincial Museum of Power, Politecnico di Milano and the Church of San Severo at Naples hanger.
His artistic touches or regions rarely visited by an artist, happens for example in 2007, when he is called upon to make the cover of the album Requiem for the Italian group Verdena. The publisher Aufbau Verlag, Berlin, release of “Aufbau Literatur Kalender 2013″ and “Aufbau Literatur Wochenplaner 2013″, a portrait of John Fante, an opera by the project car biographies: a series of 40 portraits between 2006 and 2007, were exposed in many places including here the college ranks Raphael of Urbino, who crowned the exhibition with a catalog published by Books Aparte with texts and Purple Giacometti Sarah Mazzocchi.
